Homes sale prices still falling in Lee, Marco housing market showing signs of life

In October, single-family home prices dropped 42 percent in Fort Myers-Cape Coral. But in Marco Island it’s a different story; single-family home prices increased 12 percent, bucking the trend seen in most markets around the state. “We are starting to stabilize. We are ahead of the market. We were the first to start coming down when we had gone up too high and we are the first to recover,” said Linda Sandlin, a Realtor with ReMax Results Realty and part of the Sandlin Team. Last month, the median price for a single-family home sold with the help of a Realtor grew to $505,300 in Marco, up from $450,000 a year ago, according to a monthly report by the Florida Association of Realtors. The median condo price also grew 7 percent to $400,000. In Fort Myers-Cape Coral, the median price for single-family homes dropped to $139,500 in October, down from $239,300 a year ago. Condo prices fell 5 percent to $185,300.

U.S. home prices at 2004 levels, Oct. sales off 3.1 percent

Nationwide sales of existing homes fell more than expected last month, as economic fears made buyers leery even though prices plunged to the lowest level in more than four years. And the decline is expected to get worse because October's results reflect sales contracts signed before Wall Street's nosedive.

The management company I am employed with does not support me and tells me not to become involved. Chris Griffith: Be careful about pulling home off market

Some people who decide to sell their house find out the value that they had in mind isn’t reality. Well, I guess a fair number of them find that out, not just some of them. There is a photo snapshot in their mind of some fantastical number they saw on a flyer or a postcard that showed up in the mail and it was chiseled in granite.
